Ross church

 On a recent trip to Ross I visited the local church and was left wondering, Why havent I visited it earlier. Ross is a town in the centre of Tasmania, one I have always loved and visited often. This church is a little gem so if you are ever passing I would urge you to stop and have a look.

Here are some more weavings created by local Tasmanian weavers( Valeri, Beata and Di )on display at Bothwell. And below is the silk weaving our Japanese Guests were doing. I just love the fine silk weaving. After seeing all these wonderful weaving I have made the plunge into the world of weaving, and so far I love it. So much to learn but also so much fun to be had.

Sue Evans felting workshop

 The wonderful Sue Evans ran a felting workshop at the Guild recently. 10 very keen felters took part in the fun of creating a sample scarf. Bubble wrap and colourful fleece filled the space.

 Here we have Sue demonstrating some techniques.

And some of the finished samples. We all had so much fun and Sue is such a great teacher.

Bothwell spin-in

 Yes it is that time again. The Bothwell spin in weekend. It was fantastic weather and so many interesting things to see and people to meet.

Sylvia along with Di are about to present the Margatret Hortel prize, donated by the south hobart group. 

 And Yes I was so excited to see that my thread made it through the machine without breaking. For many years I had read all the names on the wall and ohhed and arhhed over the fineness of the threads, I never thought I would manage to be up there. The wonderful Blanche was the Tasmanian and the Australian winner with a length of 234.7m. She is amazing. Well done to all those who entered.

 And here is my favourite piece of weaving from our japanese guests. The blue is indigo dyed, all silk and just so light and delicate.

 Here are the lovely ladies from Japan along with the kingston group co ordinator, Shirley and Valeri, who has opened her studio and alpaca farm to the group for the last few years.
